Washer wont stop filling.

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

If your washing machine keeps filling the most likely cause is a bad water inlet valve. If you cannot shut the water off by shutting the machine off or unplugging it and the only way to stop it from filling is to shut off the water to the machine then the valve is your problem. ApplianceMan.com has inlet valves for just about any washer in stock. Have your model # ready and click on parts to get a new valve fast at a nice low price.

Slow cold water fill on a washing machine.

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

If the cold water  just trickles in to your washer, the screens in your water valve are probably clodded with dirt or debris. While you can clean the screens and get it to fill faster, you should be careful. If you push some of the dirt into the valve you could damage the valve and it may not shut off sometime in the future and flood your house. Never remove the screens, they are there to protect the valve. What you should do is replace the valve. They are not too expensive. Just click on parts and you can order one and do the repair right.

Whirlpool top load washer not draining

If your whirpool top load washer stops right before it is supposed to drain, check the lid safety switch. If the switch is bad the washer will fill and agitate but it will not drain or spin.

Tub banging on Frigidaire front load washer.

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009

If the tub is banging on your Frigidaire washer, it will most likely be broken shocks or a broken mount on the stainless steel spin basket. Try spinning without a load. If it bangs it probably is a broken mount on the spin tub. Check your warranty in your owners manual, you may have a very long warranty on the spin basket, sometimes even a lifetime warranty. Of course you will need it installed which can be costly and other parts may need to be replaced at the same time.

Whirlpool Washer wont spin and makes grinding noise.

Sunday, October 11th, 2009

If your whirlpool or kenmore top load washer won’t spin and makes a grinding noise it usually means you have a broken coupling, This part is located between the motor and the transmission. Replacing this part will fix the problem unless the transmission is siezed up. You can check this by unplugging the washer and leaning it back so you can look underneath. You will see the broken coupling in between the motor and the transmission. The part number is 285753A. If you have an older model you will notice that the part has been improved.

This part is available from Applianceman.com. Just click on parts and enter part #285753A

Whirlpool top load washer not cleaning well?

Thursday, June 18th, 2009

The agitator on a whirlpool top load washer is usually a two part agitator. It has a ratchet type system which allows the top part of the agitiator to turn in only one direction which spirals the clothes down to the bottom of the agitator which is moving back and forth. The parts that grab the top piece are called agitator dogs. It is very common for these to wear out so that the top part of the agitator turns free and will not spiral the clothes down. To check for this try moving the top part of the agitiator. If it grabs in one direction you are ok. If it turns freely in both directions you need agitator dogs. The part # is 80040 and is available from our buy parts online link. There are also kits available which include some of the other parts in the agitator. You can look these up by model #. Applianceman.com has just about any Whirlpool Appliance Part in stock and ready to ship same day.
